I will go through these divisions of the institutions and make a report that may assist in preventing and solving the conflicts. Residence halls conflicts These are the dwelling places of the students they may include, the dormitories, hostels, and the rental houses rented by the students, which are near the school. In the residence halls, there are minimal cases of conflicts, but the moment they arise, it is so severe. Conflicts in these areas arise mainly from the context of student placing and securing rooms for themselves. There are certain halls and rooms where the students find suitable and comfortable. Because of this the students scramble for this placements where they may even fight in order for one to secure a place there. In the case of securing rooms, every student in the colleges knows it is his/her right to have a room. Once the vice versa happens and a group of students do not secure themselves one they start demonstrations. The cases in the residentââ¬â¢s halls may be overlooked before it is too late in order to prevent the mass destructions from taking places. Those Winter Sundays Essay -- essays research papers
Knowing Your Father Being a child is one of the hardest stages in a personââ¬â¢s life. They go through doing all the wrong things in order to learn how to do the right things, and then they socially develop into a sensible mature adult. During this stage of a young child's life, the roles of parenting are absolutely crucial and determine a childââ¬â¢s role that he/she is going to play in society in the future. This is a crucial part of everyoneââ¬â¢s life, they need to learn what they are good at and what they are not good at. In the poem "Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden, there is a sense that the narrator does not have a special bond with his father when he was a young boy, and that there is a sense of fear toward his father. I feel that in order to grow up and be a morally strong-stable person, you need a well-built relationship with at least one of your parents, if not both. Which was more common back then than now. Growing up in a very suburban town taught me many things about being a boy and even further into my life as then becoming a young man. I spent most of my childhood days running around the desert with my motorcycle, riding in the dirt track I had, or helping my father with some project that he had around the house or in the garage with the cars. I used to always come back to him with everything for help and the support that I needed. I would run up to the house, break his concentration, and he would come help me with whatever I needed help with. He al...

Have you enter worked where emotions were used as part of a management style? Describe the advantages and disadvantages of this approach in your experience. 4. Research shows tha t acts of co-workers (37 percent) and management (22 percent) cause more negative emotions for employees than do acts of customers (7 percent). What can Lauraââ¬â¢s company do to change its emotional climate? 1. What factors do you think make some organizations ineffective at managing emotions? There are many factors that make organizations ineffective with managing emotions in the workplace. Human beings complex thinking is one of the factors that make the organizations hard to manage the emotions. Every person is different and has his/her own emotions (Robbins 2013, p. 160). Each person may not act in the same way in a same situation due to cultural background (Robbins 2013, p. 162). Therefore, organizations face difficulties when they are dealing with their employeeââ¬â¢s emotions. This is becoming a problem when the organization is very large and contains many employees from different background. In addition, sometimes the top managers of the organization cannot control thei r own emotions as well. On the other hand, organizations are unable to relate to their employees, and their lack of constant contact with their staff can be other factor. By keeping strong connections with workforce, organizations can ensure that emotions and moods are up-beat and energetic. It is important to be in constant contact with employees and make sure they feel comfortable to communicate to their managers anything and everything on their mind. Some of the organizations have not practiced the suitable business culture. For example, they will yell and shout at the employees when things go wrong just like the second case mentioned. This shows that some of the organizations still do not concern to manage the emotions effectively. This is due to factors such as: the inability to read emotions of employees and managers, An organization needs to make sure they keep strong connections with their workforce to ensure that emotions and moods are up-beat and energetic.Next, itââ¬â¢s important to remember that bottling up your true inner emotions and keeping them to yourself, will only make things worse. Organizations need to be in constant contact with employees and make sure they feel comfortable telling managers anything and everything on their mind. When I worked at IBM, they would call in each employee individually to the managerââ¬â¢s office every month for a ââ¬Å"check-inâ⬠appointment. This is where managers would get very friendly with employees so that we would tell them what was going good, what was going bad, and our thoughts on the current tasks at hand.I learned that the staff would look forward to these monthly meetings and would relay a lot of useful information to the managers during this time. Even though organizations want employees to relay their true emotions, I donââ¬â¢t think crying at work is acceptable. This is an emotion that should be saved for home due to the fact that it could hurt your image and current position at wor k. When I say crying at work is unacceptable, I donââ¬â¢t mean that employees should bottle up their emotions. There is a time and place for everything and I believe you should save the crying for home and confront your manager alone in a professional way once yourâ⬠¦ 1. What factors do you think make some organizations ineffective at managing emotions? Firstly, I think that the complex human thinking is one of the factors that make the organizations hard to manage the emotions. Every person has his or her own emotions. Although in a same situation, they may not act in the same way. Thus, the organizations face difficulties when they are dealing with their employees. This problem is even becoming worse when the organization is very large and contains many employees from different background. Furthermore, the authority of an organization sometimes finds out they themselves cannot control their own emotions as well. Besides, due to the business culture and etiquette which are sti ll remain poorly in some of the organizations, it becomes a problem for the organizations to manage the emotions effectively. Some of the organizations have not practiced the suitable business culture. For example, they will yell and shout at the employees when things go wrong just like the second case mentioned. This shows that some of the organizations still do not concern to manage the emotions effectively. Moreover, emotions are automatic physiological responses to the environment. It will be very hard for one to control his or her emotions by hiding their true feelings within their heart. It revealed automatically. Even people that are trying to cover their true emotions can be discovered from their facial expression. Thus, this is not the fault that the organisations cannot manage the emotions effectively. This is because it is not an easy work to control the emotions of whole organisations. 2. Do you think the strategic use and display of emotions serve to protect employees, or does covering your true emotions at work lead to more problems than it solves? By covering one's emotions can sometimes ensure a work to be done perfectly. However, people that are always covering their own emotions will always find themselves in a stressful situation and they are very hard to communicate with others.Consequently, that kind of people can be easily frustrated and lose their confidence in their jobs. Problems such as unsatisfied towards the jobs, depression, low job performance and so on will then arise. At the end, it creates more problems than what it wants to solve at first. Through the strategic use and display of emotions, the employees can express their emotions in a manner way. They have to know the ways to control their emotions even thoughâ⬠¦ http://www. scribd. com/doc/127040062/Case-Study-Discussion-Module-3

Symbolism in Sonnys Blues by James Baldwin Essay
Symbolism in ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Bluesâ⬠by James Baldwin In James Baldwinââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues,â⬠the reader meets Sonny, a recovering addict, and his older brother, a high school teacher. Although these two brothers have completely different lives and personalities, the authorââ¬â¢s use of symbolism brings them more tightly together like a real family. Baldwin uses symbols such as ice, lightness and darkness, and jazz music to add more depth and meaning to ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues.â⬠People usually think of ice or the cold as being bitter and causing discomfort. When it is cold outside, people wear jackets to eliminate the bitterness of the cold. In ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues,â⬠Sonny uses heroine to escape the discomfort of the reality that is his life. Heroine is Sonnyââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Another symbol that Baldwin uses throughout the story is the symbol of lightness and darkness. Lightness and darkness usuall y symbolize good and evil. One example of darkness that Baldwin uses in ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Bluesâ⬠is when Mama, the narratorââ¬â¢s mother, was telling him about the death of his and Sonnyââ¬â¢s uncle. After Mama told the story of the brothersââ¬â¢ uncle being run over and killed by a car full of white men, she said, ââ¬Å"Your Daddy says he never in his life seen anything as dark as that road after the lights of that car had gone awayâ⬠(58). In this example, Baldwin uses the darkness of the road to create a deeper meaning behind the uncleââ¬â¢s death and the fatherââ¬â¢s sadness. The reason the father felt as if nothing could ever be as dark as that road is because he experiences his only brother dying in front of him. Death, especially murder, is considered to be a very ââ¬Å"darkâ⬠subject. When there is a funeral, mostly every person is wearing black or dark clothing because he is mourning over the death of a loved one. Another example is when the narrator reminisces on the days when all of the ââ¬Ëold folksââ¬â¢ would sit around in the living room after church. ââ¬Å"They would all sit in the chairs while the night is creeping up outside, but no one knows it yetâ⬠¦everyone is looking at something a child cannot seeâ⬠(56).
